Provided is a database operation method which modifies a reference relationship between database records. A record is extracted (0301), a reference destination record recorded in the record is identified (0302), reference destination modification information recorded in the reference destination record is identified (0303), a reference destination modification process corresponding to the reference destination modification information is started (0304), and the obtained new reference destination is made to be a new reference destination of the extracted record (0305). Moreover, a copy of the original database is created in a plurality of computers and edition of the copies is reflected in the original in a database management method. A version of a database is recorded for each record and an edition of a new version is made to be valid.
