The invention relates to a web-fed press comprising several printing units, in particular offset printing units, for the static printing of at least one substrate (14) with a print image that is the same for all printed signatures, each printed signature comprising several printed pages which can be printed in accordance with an imposition and web lead pattern onto the or each substrate surface of the or each substrate (14) and comprising at least one processing unit, in particular with at least one inkjet printing unit (17) for the dynamic printing of at least one substrate with a print image that can vary for at least some printed signatures. According to the invention, the web-fed press comprises a control unit which automatically checks whether processing by means of a processing unit, in particular printing by means of an inkjet unit (17), is possible at a desired position (19) on a substrate surface of a web substrate (14) or at a desired position (19) on a printed page (18), taking into consideration the configuration of the web-fed press. If the control unit determines that the processing by means of a processing unit, in particular printing by means of an inkjet unit (17), is possible at the desired position, the control unit authorises processing by means of a suitable processing unit, in particular dynamic printing by means of a suitable inkjet unit (17).
