The invention relates to motorcycle airbags, motorcycles with such airbags, a method for manufacturing a motorcycle airbag and a method for protecting a driver of a motorcycle in the event of a crash. In a first embodiment, an airbag (10) is provided which, in the inflated state, has an indent (25) facing the driver or facing away from the driver. In a second embodiment, an airbag is provided which can be rotated about its fixing point relative to the body of the vehicle, at least immediately after inflation. In a third embodiment, an airbag is provided which unfolds in a first unfolding phase essentially in the horizontal direction with respect to the plane of the underlying surface, and in a second unfolding phase essentially in the vertical direction.
