The invention relates to a method and a computer system for the computer-aided reduction of an interactive three-dimensional virtual reality, which comprises the following steps: providing media data which represent a virtual environment, wherein the virtual environment comprises at least one three-dimensional computer model of a real environment, and dynamically modulating the virtual environment by providing interactive user interfaces for a large number of users, which interfaces can be used to retrieve media data corresponding to an instantaneous state of the virtual environment and/or to sense actions by the users, and continuously: a) ascertaining the influence of the actions by the users on the instantaneous state of the virtual environment and updating the media data provided accordingly, and b) capturing real data which characterise the real environment on which the modulated virtual environment is based and ascertaining the influence of said real data on the instantaneous state of the virtual environment and updating the media data provided accordingly.
