The present invention proposes a method for managing uplink scrambling codes in a WCDMA system, including following steps: allocating specified number of uplink scrambling codes to the channels PRACH and PCPCH; allocating uplink scrambling codes to each RNC according to the planned capacity of each RNC; said each RNC manages allocated uplink scrambling codes. The method for managing uplink scrambling codes set forth by the present invention can prevent conflict caused by the same scrambling code being used by different UEs that is possibly caused by the UEs when a SRNC makes relocation, especially for the geographically adjacent cells controlled by different RNCs, the problem of uplink scrambling code conflict due to non-planned uplink scrambling code management can be solved.
