A method for coating a car body by electrodeposition in which an electrodeposition bath is made compact in order to reduce adhesion of suspended matters to the surface. In the method, the surface of the car body (11) is coated by electrodeposition by being immersed in a paint (17) in an electrodeposition bath (16). The method comprises a first step for inclining the body (11) obliquely by an angle ϑ from turndown state, making the body enter the surface of the paint (17) under inclining state, and lowering the body vertically while rotating the body into further turndown state, thus immersing the body (11) in the paint (17); a second step for making the body (11) advance straight in the paint (17) under turndown state; and a third step for raising the body (11) vertically from turndown state while rotating the body to incline obliquely, thus lifting the body from the paint (17).
