CANDIDATE GENES AND BLOOD BIOMARKERS FOR BIPOLAR MOOD DISORDER, ALCOHOLISM AND STRESS DISORDER

Analysis of the gene expression changes identified a series of novel candidate genes and blood biomarkers for bipolar disorder, alcoholism and stressdisorder. These are used for diagnosing the disorders, predicting and monitoring response to treatment. A novel treatment for these co-morbid disorders, DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid - an omega-3 fatty acid) was identified, using these genes and biomarkers, as well as the transgenic animal model.
