A mettallized, multilayer, high barrier, oriented thermoplastic polyester film suitable for forming an inner liner of a spiral wound container including a core layer of polyester; a layer of a heat sealable copolyester positioned adjacent to one surface of the core layer; a metal film positioned adjacent an opposite surface of the core layer; and a barrier layer heat sealable coating layer positioned adjacent the metal film which is capable of adhering to the metal film and does not adhere to the heat sealable copolyester.
