Methods of forming an organic layer by ink-jet printing in the fabrication of an organic electronic device (100). The organic layer is formed by ink-jet printing onto a surface, a solution comprising an organic material in a low boiling point solvent. The ink-jet printing occurs at an ambient temperature of less than 20°C such that the solvent has a vapor pressure of 1330 Pa (10 mmHg) or less. The ink-jet printing may be performed in a temperature-controlled chamber. After ink-jet printing solution, the solvent is evaporated such that the organic material remains on the surface, thereby forming the organic layer.
