The invention relates to a method for splitting torque between the electric machine and the internal combustion engine in a parallel hybrid vehicle which comprises an internal combustion engine, at least one electric machine and an energy store connected to the electric machine. According to said method, in the hybrid drive mode, the electric machine is operated only in the generator mode or in a torque-free fashion, the electric energy stored in the energy store connected to the electric machine during generator operation of the electric machine without a load point reduction of the internal combustion engine being reserved to be consumed later on by all-electric travel.
