A radio base station for mobile cellular telephony comprising:- a radio transceiver system;- plants for generating electric energy from solar energy and wind energy;- a battery set comprising a plurality of cells, that cooperates with said plants for storing the generated electric energy and feeding said radio transceiver system;- a monitoring device for monitoring said battery set and preventing malfunctions adapted to actively interact in a selective way with each cell of the battery set so as to maintain the charge in each cell within a preset deviation from a predetermined average voltage.
