Detection of a genetic susceptibility for diluted coat colours in the Doberman Pinscher

The canine melanophilin gene (A) is new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) oligonucleotides (ON) that hybridize with a region of (A) from Dobermann Pinschers (DP) for analysis of the genotype with respect to dilution of color; and (2) determining the genetic predisposition for color dilution in DP by analysis of (A).
