The invention relates to a method of calculating an objective appraisal (NOB) of annoyance caused by noise in an audio signal processed with a noise reduction function. The inventive method comprises a first step consisting in obtaining a pre-defined test audio signal (x[m]) containing a noise-free wanted signal, a noisy signal (xb[m]) obtained by adding a pre-defined noise signal to the test signal (x[m]) and a processed signal (y[m]) obtained by applying the noise reduction function to the noisy signal (xb[m]). Said method is characterised in that it includes a step (a3, a4) consisting in taking frame loudness measurements for the noisy signal (xb[m]) and the processed signal (y[m]) and frame tonality coefficient measurements for the processed signal (y[m]).
