Method for spooling a thread (9) on a textile machine which produces crosswound bobbins (8) and has a multiplicity of work stations (1) of the same kind, wherein each work station (1) comprises a thread traversing device (24) for laying the thread (9) during the normal operation of the textile machine with a nominal stroke on a crosswound bobbin (8) which is driven by a winding shaft (23), and an apparatus (2) for eliminating the interruption of the thread (9), wherein, after the thread interruption has been eliminated, first of all a defined thread length is stored in a thread storage device (12), wherein the nominal stroke of the thread traversing device (24) of the work station (1) is shortened after the elimination of the thread interruption for the duration of spooling of a defined thread length onto the crosswound bobbin (8).
