A method for treating a patient, comprising providing a therapeutically-effective amount of an AASUB1/SUBRA to the patient; and informing the patient or a medical care worker that administration of the AASUB1/SUBRA can provide an improvement in renal function that persists for a time period following administration of the AASUB1/SUBRA, and wherein the time period is at least 3 days.
