Introducing preferences over NFPs into service selection in SOA

The invention is a method for optimizing a business or software activity in service-oriented architecture. The method provides a match between the required functionality and that provided by a web service (or other service) while taking into account client requirements and allowing tradeoffs. The method comprises the steps of: specifying a user's preferences over the service configuration using a structural representation and optimizing the service configuration according to the representation.
