The invention relates to an in vitro method of screening for candidate compounds for the preventive or curative treatment of acne, comprising the determination of the ability of a compound to modulate the expression or the activity of the peroxisomal membrane ATP-binding cassette transporter 1, subfamily D, type 3 (ABCD3), and also to the use of modulators of the expression or of the activity of this transporter for the treatment of acne or of skin disorders associated with hyperseborrhoea. The invention also relates to methods for the diagnosis or prognosis, in vitro, of these pathologies.
