The present invention relates to a luminescent material which can absorb light in a region between near-ultraviolet light and blue light to implement various emitted-light colors of blue, green and red and is expressed by a formula of ASUBa/SUBBSUBß/SUBCSUB?/SUB : wEuSUP2+/SUP, xMnSUP2+/SUP, yM, zN; a preparation method of the luminescent material; and a white light emitting diode using the luminescent material. The present invention provides a luminescent material applicable to wavelength conversion of a light emitting diode chip and having superior luminance and color rendering properties and adjustable color temperature, a preparation method thereof, and a white light emitting diode using the luminescent material, which is applicable to white light sources for LCDs and household white illumination.
