The process for making a transparent ceramic object based of optionally doped yttrium-aluminum garnet, comprises fritting a preform of the object, which is obtained from a mixture of materials that has low granulometry and is carried by a thermally refractory support. The support has a composition same as that of the preform of the object. The fritting is carried out at a temperature of lower than 1750[deg] C to obtain the support. The preform of the object is disposed on the support. Independent claims are included for: (1) a transparent ceramic object; (2) a process for making a thermally refractory support; and (3) a thermally refractory support.
