The brake (C) has a single or multi-part fixing part arranged for fixing a roller. A single or multi-part actuating unit is provided for conveying the brake from a position into another position. The fixing part comprises a blockable gas spring (10), which is blocked in two conditions of the brake. The spring is released during changing of the brake from one of the conditions into the other condition, and vice versa. The gas spring has a cylinder (101) and a piston, which is movably arranged in the cylinder. An independent claim is also included for a bed comprising an additional coupling element.
