Cosmetic compositions containing white birch extracts for skin homeostasis

Cosmetic compositions containing the extract of white birch are provided to normalize reduction of skin gene expression caused by ultraviolet rays without side effects, thereby maintaining skin homeostasis. A cosmetic composition for maintaining skin homeostasis comprises 0.001-30 wt.% of the white birch extract which normalizes the expressions of Clock or bmal1/mop3 genes reduced by ultraviolet rays, and are prepared by pulverizing white birch, dipping pulverized white birch in a solvent selected from purified water, methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, glycerol, propyleneglycol, 1,3-butyleneglycol, methylacetate, ethylacetate, benzene, hexane, diethylether and dichloromethane for 5 days, and filtering, concentrating and freeze-drying the extract. The composition is formulated as cleanser, oil, lotion, soft lotion, nutrition lotion, nutrition cream, massage cream, pack, gel or essence.
