Motion compensated temporal filtering method for efficient wavelet-based scalable video coding and record-medium for executing method thereof

A motion compensated temporal filtering method for efficient wavelet-based scalable video coding and a record medium having a program for executing the method are provided to increase accuracy of motion compensation and time filtering by coupling two blocks of a reference frame and a present frame and leveling a motion vector field, thereby increasing accuracy of motion compensated temporal filtering. A codec comprises a motion processing part(310), a spatial analyzing part(320), an entropy coder(330), a packetizer part(340), and a motion vector field coding part(350). The motion processing part estimates the motion of an MCTF(Motion Compensated Temporal Filtering)(312). A motion estimation part(314) of the motion processing part couples two blocks of a reference frame and a present frame. The entropy coder adjusts time resolution and spatial resolution and carries out the entropy coding according to the distribution of each pixel value.
