A method for preparing a phyllanthus extract containing ellagic acid from phyllanthus, and a method for preparing ellagic acid from phyllanthus are provided to maximize the activity to Hepatitis B virus by optimizing the separation and purification conditions. A method for preparing a phyllanthus extract containing ellagic acid represented by the formula 1 from phyllanthus comprises the step of dipping the dried one of phyllanthus in a sodium chloride aqueous solution having a pH of 7.2-9.0 and a concentration of 0.85-0.95 % as an extraction solvent.
