A station arrival notification system and a controlling method thereof for using a cellular phone are provided to prevent a user from passing by stations or getting off from a bus in advance by hesitation when using public transportation, thus the user does not have to travel with anxiety caused in case of a first trip or night trip or when the user does not know the current place. A cellular phone performs wireless communication through a mobile telephone network(100). A switch(110) performs a switching function for the wireless communication in the telephone network through the cellular phone. Traffic units(300,400) perceive locations in each time slot. An information storage DB stores the destination requested in the cellular phone. A location perception system has a program for obtaining a transportation unit where a user gets on and the current location of the transportation unit. An arrival notification server(210) notifies the cellular phone of arrival through the switch, if the destination is identical with the requested destination.
