VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUND-RESPONSIVE FRP3 PROTEIN ORIGINATED FROM ARABIDOPSIS THALIANA

An FRP3 protein derived from Arabidopsis thaliana, a gene coding the FRP3 protein, a recombinant vector containing the gene, the plant transformed by the vector, and a seed of the transformed plant are provided to enhance the resistance of a plant against the stress such as the exposure to volatile organic compounds. An FRP3 protein derived from Arabidopsis thaliana comprises the amino acid sequence represented by the sequence number 2, and is expressed by the response to a volatile organic compound. Preferably the gene coding the FRP3 protein comprises the base sequence represented by the sequence number 1. The transformed plant removes the volatile organic compounds in air.
