A charger circuit and method for adjusting the charge current are provided to control the charging current to the secondary battery to the value of the desired higher precision. The charger circuit(1) controls the charging current comprises the charging transistor(M1), the charge current detecting resistance(Rsen), the reference voltage generation circuit(3), the charge current control circuit(4) and the voltage adjusting circuit. The charging transistor controls the supply of the charging current to the secondary battery according to the inputted control signal. The charge current detecting resistance detects the charging current. The current-voltage converting circuit produces the monitor voltage(CCMON) of the voltage corresponding to the charging current and outputs it. The reference voltage generation circuit produces the predetermined reference voltage(CCREF) in order to identify the monitor voltage with the reference voltage. The charge electric current control circuit controls the operation of the charging transistor. The voltage adjusting circuit controls the reference voltage in order to become the charging current into the desired current value.
