An apparatus for assembling a piston of an engine assembly line is provided to prevent an engine from being damaged by detecting whether a piston is held or not and whether the piston is abnormal or not in advance. An apparatus for assembling a piston(100) of an engine assembly line comprises: a piston insertion part(200); a piston settling portion(300); a piston gripper(400); and a elastic center device(10) which is installed between the piston gripper and a second fixture(310) and corrects centering error. The elastic center device comprises: an upper supporter fixed to the lower part of the second fixture; a lower support in which a gripper fixing member(410) with a gripper is combined in a lower part; a plurality of elastic bodies equipped between the upper supporter and the lower support; and a plurality of limiters equipped between the upper supporter and the lower support.
