A monitoring and imaging method for cells is provided to enable an operator to observe processes of a drug and gene delivery carrier transferring or moving to a specific site of a cell for a long time when the drug and gene delivery carrier are injected to the cell. A monitoring and imaging method for cells uses a silver nanoparticle, gold nanoparticle, or a nanostructure by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS). The nanoparticle or nanostructure is a carrier used for drug or gene delivery. The nanoparticle or nanostructure is selected from the group consisting of isocyanide compounds, thiol or cyanide, isothiocyanate, and Rhodamine 6G, Cy3, Cy5 or TAMRA. The monitoring method takes place within 72 hours after the nanoparticle or nanostructure is absorbed in the cell.
