A cognitive ultra wideband communication apparatus using an adaptive chirp waveform is provided to improve system complexity to reduce a processing time and power consumption. A spectrum evaluation unit(110) generates a spectrum which is cut by estimating a spectrum without interference. The spectrum evaluation unit checks a wireless environment to grasp a currently used interference spectrum band. The spectrum evaluation unit generates a spectrum which the interference spectrum band is notched. A chirp waveform generation unit(120) recognizes a presumed spectral band of a narrow band application device. The chirp waveform generation unit generates an adaptive chirp waveform having an instant frequency corresponding to a spectrum in which the interference spectrum band is notched. A size limit unit(130) adjusts generated energy of a chirp waveform. A modulator(140) modulates a data signal in the adaptive chirp waveform.
