A method for traffic handover between synchronous mobile communication network and asynchronous mobile communication network and a mobile communication terminal for performing the traffic handover are provided to reduce the time taken until the traffic handover is completed after a handover instruction message(handover from UTRAN command) is received from an asynchronous mobile communication network. A method for traffic handover between synchronous mobile communication network and asynchronous mobile communication network comprises the following steps of: previously acquiring a synchronous channel and a pilot channel of the second mobile communication network in a second modem and becoming a standby state; connecting the traffic channel between the second modem and the second mobile communication network; and deactivating a first vocoder connected to the first modem and activating a second vocoder connected to the second modem.
