A multi-tag recognition method using a virtual group root node and a dynamic tag response function is provided to minimize power consumption of a tag and correctly recognize the tags found in a recognition area of a tag reader regardless of the number by optimizing the number of cases for searching around a terminal node through the dynamic tag response function. A tag reader recognizes a plurality of terminal tag nodes derived from each virtual group root node by successively selecting the virtual group root node and utilizing the dynamic response function assigned to the tag. A reader data frame and a tag data frame are transceived between the tag reader and the tag. A pointer points a position of at least one bit included in a tag ID requested by the tag reader.
