A device and a method for finding the malfunction of a roll coater are provided to increase the error rate of product by rapidly determining the malfunction of a roll coater and allowing operator to monitor the operation state of the roll coater. A device for finding the malfunction of a roll coater comprises a heating oven; steel sheet passing through the heating oven; a roll coater which transfers the resin solution on the surface of the steel sheet by contacting with the surface of the steel sheet; a data collecting part(910) collecting data about the temperature within the heating oven and the electric energy put into the heating oven; an operation unit(920) computing the rate of the change amount of the temperature emitted from the steel sheet surface; a data comparing part(930) comparing the rate of the change amount of the temperature with the set rate; and a malfunction determination device(940) determining malfunction if the rate of the change amount of the temperature is greater than the set rate.
