A batch composition of gunning material using waste Mg-Cr brick

PURPOSE: A hot-spray composition is provided for use as gunning materials by using waste magnesia chrome refractory generated from the steelmaking industry. CONSTITUTION: The hot spray composition comprises the components of: 100pts.wt. of refractory composed of 30-50wt.% of waste magnesia chrome brick(MgO-C) grounds having a size less than 3mm; 5-10wt.% of CaCO3, 2-4wt.% of Ca(OH)2, and the balance of magnesia clinker having a size less than 1mm and inevitable impurities; 3-5pts.wt. of sodium hexametaphosphate; 1-2pts.wt. of sodium silicate providing hardening property; and 0.5-1pts.wt. of aluminum sulfate as a flocculent.
