An apparatus and a method for a visitor-care service based on a dual mode are provided to confirm a visitor through call connection and open a door by using a Zigbee module at home or a general phone or a portable phone out of home. An outdoor door phone interface unit(22) performs a video/voice transceiving operation with an outdoor phone, and a Zigbee communication processor(24) connects a preset terminal to a voice/video call through Zigbee communication. A controller(26) connects the voice/video call to the preset terminal through a public telephone network or the Zigbee communication.
