FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: there is disclosed selective oxidation catalyst of gas hydrogen sulphide to element sulphur on carbon carrier containing natural ferric oxide. Herewith catalyst is additionally introduced with ferric oxide in amount 0.5-2.0 wt % and magnesium oxide in amount 0.1-0.5 wt % on metal basis. Substrate is high-ash microcellular carbon carrier made of low-caking fossil coal by crushing, water granulation, drying, carbonisation in inert medium, and gas-vapour activation. Besides, there are described method of catalyst production and method of gas desulphurisation.;EFFECT: production of new catalyst ensuring comprehensive adsorption catalytic removal of hydrogen sulphide in gas, improved engineering-and-economical performance ensured with temperature reduction, higher sulphur content and catalyst service life.;5 cl, 2 tbl, 31 ex
