The method and device evaluate additive noise in a noisy signal using step-by-step Bayesian analysis. Prior distribution of time-varying noise is allowed for, and hyperparametres (average value and dispersion) are recursively corrected using approximation for posterior noise, calculated at the previous step. Additive noise in the time domain is presented in the region of logarithmic spectrum or cepstrum before step-by-step Bayesian analysis. Results of both evaluations of average value and dispersion for noise for each separate frame are used for extension of speech signals in the same region of logarithmic spectrum or cepstrum.;EFFECT: more efficient evaluation of noise in signals when identifying images.;20 cl, 4 dwg
