The device has a closed pipe socket that is arranged between an inlet (3) and an outlet (4) of a main body (2), where an inner side of the socket is separated into an inlet area and an outlet area through a separating wall. A passage between a base and the wall is released. A piezoelectric transducer (9) is arranged at the inlet and outlet and near an end of the socket. Another piezoelectric transducer opposite to the former transducer is arranged at the inlet and the outlet so that an ultrasonic measuring section is formed between the transducers. An independent claim is also included for a valve, comprising a valve housing.
