A method for the production of contacts made of copper (cu) and chromium (cr) as a switch contacts for vacuum circuit-breakers, wherein from a cucr - melting by means of a rapid cooling to room temperature a strip or sheet metal with a predetermined chromium - concentration in the not thermodynamic equilibrium is adjusted, with the following process steps:– It is a band or a thin metal sheet made of copper (cu) and chromium (cr) as a starting material for the switching contacts, with a defined cooling rate is generated by means of rapid solidification (quenching) technology,– defined by the set cooling rate, a given chromium - concentration profile perpendicular to the band - / sheet surface and set in a targeted manner on account of the difference in density of chromium and copper is equally the chromium on the surface of the strip or sheet metal enriched,– from the strip or sheet metal, a portion of predetermined geometry are punched out and– the punched part is fastened on a contact support and forms a contact facing for the switch contact.
