The arrangement (10) has two bearing supports (14, 16) in which sliding or roller bearings for a brake camshaft (12) are accommodated. A protective sleeve (24) that seals the camshaft to the environment is arranged between the supports and made of flexible plastic or flexible metallic material. An area that is provided between the camshaft and the sleeve is sealed to the environment by press-fitting of the protective sleeve and/or using a sealing ring and O-rings (30) e.g. ring seals. The sleeve is press-fitted and/or screwed in a bearing support-lateral retainer in one of the supports.
