Apparatus for producing mineral wool comprises a melting vessel and distributing vessels (2) with outlets (21), below which are blast nozzles (3). These are fed with compressed air from a single-stage compressor (41) which does not cool the gas as it is compressed. Independent claims are included for: (A) a method for producing mineral wool using the apparatus; and (B) use of the apparatus to produce mineral wool.
