The vehicle identification device has a container (2), multiple identification elements (28) with identification information that are stored within container. Each identification element carries information or partial groups of information. A releasing unit which includes a connection element (4), hinge (6), lifter (8), pressure spring (10) and coil (12) release a part of the identification element from the container.
