The device has chains (4, 6) carried on a guide rail (3) with a support bearing (15). A workpiece (7) e.g. floor panel, is transported between one of the chains and an upper pressure belt via a machining assembly (11). The workpiece is horizontally guided via a guide rule (1) and a guide groove (2) against frictional engagement caused by contact pressure of the belt. The workpiece is vertically guided through a pressure pad (14) from downside and through a guide (16) from top. The height of the guide rule is adjustable independent of upper pressure.
