A turning unit (1) has deflection pulleys arranged in pairs so that their radial peripheral surfaces point between them towards each other with a small gap. First (3,5) and second (4,6) pairs of deflection pulleys are formed by deflection pulleys arranged one on top of the other. A first driving belt (7) fits over a top deflection pulley (3) in the first pair and a bottom deflection pulley (4) in the second pair. A second driving belt (8) fits over a bottom deflection pulley (5) in the first pair and over a top deflection pulley (6) in the second pair.
