The method involves producing fog (60) by exciting water (44) by ultrasound produced by a sonotrode (40). The water is excited by direct or indirect acoustic irradiation. Time for starting supply of the fog and duration of the supply of the fog are adjustable. Quantity of the fog to be supplied is adjusted at a preset time interval. An operation of the sonotrode is made depending on operating conditions of an internal combustion engine (10). A control and regulation electronics (80) designed for operating the engine is used for controlling of a dosing valve. An independent claim is also included for a device for supplying fog in combustion air of an internal combustion engine.
