The method involves determining a rotating parameter of a camshaft from a control unit. A rotating parameter of the crankshaft (100) is detected by an opposite functional connection of the rotating parameter of the camshaft with the rotating parameter of the crankshaft. The control unit obtains a signal from a camshaft sensor, which cooperates with a camshaft sensor wheel formed as teeth wheel. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting a current and a future turning parameter of a crankshaft of a combustion engine.
