An improved hydraulic valve especially for a face support system for coal mining, has a split housing with an inner valve seal housing (11) and an outer threaded housing (12) by means of which the valve assembly is fitted and removed. The two housings are linked by a clamping ring (20) clipped over the profiled adjacent ends of the sleeves. This ensures that the valve seal housing is fitted and removed by an axial drive and with the outer sleeve housing turned to follow the thread.
