The covering has weather-proof facade covering plates (3) arranged at distance from a metal light weight construction-glass facade by a spacer (5) and a grid, which consists of rails (6). A thermal insulation layer (2) of mineral rock wool is arranged in the plates through hollow cavities, which are formed between the plates, such that the facade contacts the plates to form a space (7) for ventilation of the facade. The spacer is firmly connected with metal frame parts (4) of the facade such that embrasures for a window and a door are fitted in the plates in a weather-proof manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a facade covering.
