The device (1) has a heated supporting element (2) e.g. heated rotary roller (9), at which a continuous paper or cardboard web (3) is guided over a peripheral section. A counter-pressure element (4) exerts pressure over a circumference of the element and does not exert the pressure at a web-part (3a) adjacent to the supporting element, where the circumference of the supporting element is 100 millimeter. The counter-pressure is generated by pressurized fluid in a pressure fluid container (5), where the fluid acts directly on the web. The element (2) is formed with a smooth roller surface (9a).
