Sealing compounds applying involves treating a component part by a surface treatment with electromagnetic radiation or particle radiation or subjecting a corona or plasma treatment. The sealing compounds are provided on the part subjected to the surface treatment and the sealing compounds are hardened under the effect of atmospheric humidity and by evaporating a solvent. The sealing compound has a silicone or silyl groups carrying prepolymer. An independent claim is also included for a seal for a joint, particularly for sealing a joint between the component part of polymethyl methacrylate, polycarbonate or polyvinyl chloride in the sanitary area and a wall or ground surface in the automotive field and a metal, a glass or a plastic surface, which includes treatment of the component part by a surface treatment with electromagnetic radiation or particle radiation or subjecting a corona or plasma treatment.
