The system has a damping unit transportable from a damp distributing roller over a damping roller towards a moisture applying roller. Apertures (15-18) are arranged between a removal device and the distributing roller in an axial direction of the distributing roller, in order to adjust damping quantity applied on the distributing roller for a page to be printed. Drives (19-23) cooperate with each of the apertures, where the apertures are differently adjustable over an axial extension and/or opened such that a varying damping quantity is applied on the distributing roller over the extension. An independent claim is also included for an inking system comprising a storage vessel.
